Mr. Green's Cranberry-Apple Tart by Carvers Restaurant

CRUMB MIX

Ingredients




- 1/4 lb. Butter

- 1/2 cup Brown Sugar

- 1/2 cup Flour

- 1 cup Quick Oats

- 1/8 tsp. Salt

- 1/2 cup Walnuts (chopped)



Instructions

  • Mix flour, sugar, and salt until well mixed.
  • Add oatmeal, butter and walnuts. Mix 1-2 minutes until butter is size of small peas.
  • Cover and refrigerate until needed.

FILLING MIX

Ingredients




- 3 lbs. Apples (Granny Smith)

- 2 TBS Lemon Juice

- 1 TBS Cinnamon

- 1/4 cup Granulated Sugar

- 1 cup Fresh Cranberries



Instructions

  • Peel, core and thinly slice apples.
  • Toss apples with Lemon Juice, Cinnamon, sugar and cranberries.
  • Cover and refrigerate until needed.

CRANBERRY-APPLE TART

Ingredients




- 6 each 10" Pastry dough sheets (from frozen food section or make your own)

- 3 TBS Granulated Sugar



Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Sprinkle each thawed Pastry dough sheet with about a tsp of Granulated Sugar.
  • Spread equal amounts of Filling Mix onto each sheet, leaving about 1-1/2" rim.
  • Top with equal amounts of Crumb Mix.
  • Fold rim over edge of filling, pinching down on overlapping corners.
  • Place on cookie sheet and bake for about 40 minutes or until crust is golden brown.

NOTES

- You can choose your own apple variety. If you have kids, let them choose their favorite apple, or it's a good way of getting them to try other varieties.

- This really is so easy, you can have your kids or grand kids help.
