 TOMATOES (Monday, September 17): "Mr. Phelps, your mission, should you choose to accept it..." have a ripe tomato on the table. Hey, Mission Impossible began on television this week 1966. So I thought it would be fun ‑‑ probably one of the most asked questions of Your Produce Man ‑‑ most people think it is, indeed, Mission Impossible to have a really ripe tomato just like these beautiful vine‑ripened tomatoes. So how do you get a vine‑ripened tomato? Well, a lot has to do with where you keep your tomatoes.

 FUN SCHOOL LUNCHES (Monday, September 10): Okay. All the school bells are ringing, that means school is back in session. All this week, we’re packing lunches, school lunches for your kids or grandkids. Now, one of the things about school lunches is I tell parents all the time, and grandparents: Make it fun. Take a look at this. I want you ‑‑ I want to show you all the different produce items I have here. So what I want you to do ‑‑ I want you to take your kids or your grand kids ‑‑ take them to the store with you.

 STRAWBERRIES (Monday, September 3): You do know, officially, we only have about a little less than three weeks officially in summer, and I don't want summer to leave. I've been enjoying the summer berries so much especially these beautiful summer strawberries. They have ‑‑ what a terrific season we have had with these gorgeous strawberries. So, how do I keep my summer berries lasting a little bit longer?

PEARS (Monday, August 27): That's exactly how they should look, and that's exactly how you should ripen your new crop Bartlett pears. That's right. From the Sacramento River District along the Sacramento River you will find orchards, and many of these orchards are like a 100, 125 years old. They have been harvesting these beautiful ‑‑ take a look at that ‑‑ Bartlett pear. Absolutely gorgeous.  YUKON GOLD POTATOES (Monday, August 20): In Canada, in the Yukon territory, they discovered gold this week ‑‑ 1896. I know, it's gold, the precious metal. But I love this gold. Oh, my goodness, beautiful. Yukon Gold potatoes. Take ‑‑ oh, yes, take a good close look at those, absolutely gorgeous. Now, when I said earlier, "I love gold," well, I also love pink eye. No, not that pink eye ‑‑ no, you don't want that. But, you know, when you look at the Yukon Gold, you want to look at the eyes of those potatoes. Take a look at this right here.
