CANTALOUPE (Monday, June 28): Hey, the little Marks brothers, little Landon and Lincoln, they call these candy melon. That’s right. Cantaloupe this time of year…oh, my goodness…cantaloupes are so sweet and so good. Couple things I want you too look for: first of all, this time of year I want you to look at the background color. Now if you look at the background color on this cantaloupe it’s all green in the background. That’s not the way it should be. Right here, see that nice golden color. That is the golden background color.

PEACHES AND NECTARINES (PART I) (Monday, June 21): Hey, happy first day of summer. Today is the official first day of summer. If just walk in the produce department or down the farmer’s market, you know it’s summer because you see all the beautiful joys of summer…peaches and nectarines. Oh, my goodness! Take a look at those beautiful peaches and nectarines. You will first notice all of the red blush on the fruit. Americans are suckers for red.

APRICOTS (Monday, June 14): Man, they are excited in Johannesburg, South Africa. World Cup is there for the next month or so. Some of the best soccer in the world is going on. Well, I am excited about this. Oh, my goodness! I can’t wait to always…this time of year…some of the most beautiful. Hey, somebody’s already taken some! Julie, where in the world…my beautiful and lovely wife, she also loves apricots. The golden seed of the sun, they call it, beautiful apricots. Now I want you to take a look at these.

TOMATOES (Monday, June 7): Hey, this date in 1955, the “$64,000 Question” debuted on television, so I have the $64,000 question for you. Is the tomato a fruit or a vegetable? Hey, it’s the barbecue season and salad season so you’re probably eating a lot more tomatoes. You probably never thought, “Is it a fruit or vegetable?” If you think it’s a vegetable, raise your hand. WATERMELONS (Monday, May 31): All right. Hey, before…before you head out to your Memorial Day picnics you better read this. If it’s Memorial Day, it’s time for Watermelon. For your picnic, maybe you’ll have one of those big 20 pound seeded watermelons or maybe one of the 15-16 pound seedless, or maybe even one of the personal size Watermelons. Whatever Watermelon you have, please, never in a million years should you get your knife out before you wash that watermelon. Can I give you a hint? Maybe you did not know this.
